Hi folks,
It’s Jackrabbit!
David is out this week but, worry not, we’ve got a great interview we recorded with Kate Shea-Baird, an activist with the Spanish Municipalist movement since 2014 and a member of the executive team of Barcelona EnComu (Barcelona in common) from 2017 to 2021. Please join us Tuesday October 24th at 6pm Eastern 3pm Pacific here on our Youtube channel. Our Rumble livestream will post 24 hours before the show on our channel, so please keep an eye out for it. Make sure you are subscribed to Youtube and are following on Rumble.
In 2015, Barcelona EnComu’s Ada Colau - a housing rights activist - won her election to become mayor of Barcelona, Spain’s 2nd largest city. Barcelona En Comú’s guiding document was drawn up through citizen participation and its policy priorities included radicalizing democracy, stopping evictions, fighting touristification, returning the city’s water company to the people, and reducing economic inequalities between neighborhoods.
In 2019, Ada Colau won a second term as mayor. However, she lost her attempt at a 3rd term this year. We’re looking forward to asking Kate both about the accomplishments and the challenges that faced these activists who came to power.

I will be in studio during the episode to respond to your questions, so please do join us Tuesday for an excellent conversation with Kate Shea-Baird. See you then!
Be well,
